Swimming Bison YellowstoneSwimming Bison YellowstoneThe river was deep enough that this bison had only its head and tail above the water as it swam. Bison are one of my favorite animals to photograph. They are so strong and powerful, but cool, calm, and tranquil, too. Here's the back story to this photo I took:

I watched this bison saunter up to the river's edge...walk into the water and keep walking until the river became so deep it had to swim...before long, all you could see was the bison's head, shoulders, and tail! It was quite a sight.
